In September Shire Highlands Development Trust supported the government and organizations in Thyolo in celebrating 46 best performing learners from Mpinji Zone who were selected to national secondary schools and district boarding schools after excelling in the 2024 PSLCE. During the award ceremony held at Mpinji Teacher Development Centre, SHDT contributed K500,000 which was used to buy expand-bags for students going to national secondary schools. Board Secretary Dr. Limbani Nsapato and Administrator Wadson Muheya represented SHDT at the awards.
The two hailed the awards saying that they help motivate learners and teachers to do more.
Mpinji zone achieved an 87% pass rate in 2024 PSLCE with learners scoring 366 As in the exams.
Apart from SHDT, Nchima Tea Estate was among the organizations that supported the event.
